Junior Bushcraft Camp

Age: 10-15 years

Duration: 2 full days (starts 19.00 on first day and ends 16:00 on third day)

Are you looking for something exciting and different to do in the school holidays?

Here is an opportunity to learn bushcraft survival skills among people your own age, without parental supervision!

Spend two action packed days in the wild, learning the fundamentals of firelighting (with sparks and friction); water collection and treatment, plant uses, shelter building and animal tracking. On this course we will spend two nights in tents but with the option of trying out natural shelters. Basic food provisions are provided and will be prepared communally on the fire.

Our team includes a qualified bushcraft instructor, plus a female assistant providing extra camp supervision and care (both CRB cleared). We will provide guidance in bushcraft techniques, but will aim to give students as much independence as can be safely allowed.

Client quotes:

"The course was very interesting and you were not forced to do anything you did not want to do. It was great making new friends and learning new skills at the same time. The native woodland was fantastic as it had different types of tree and also close by were fields, rivers and springs to explore. I loved the fact that most of the food was vegetarian and even when it was not, veggie options were always there. The food was also of great quality - not just value stuff. My friend and I raised all the money by ourselves and I will absolutely be doing it again so we can come on the course next year! The whole experience was brilliant. " - M. Scharaschkin

"I thought [tutors were] very friendly and trustworthy. It was an excellent location as it was right in the woods and near a spring and river. Also there was a lot of wildlfe living around us which was a great experience. I don't think you could have done any more than you did to improve it. You couldn't have worked any harder so thank you. I particularly liked building a camp and I thought being able to sleep in it was a nice touch. It was a great experience being outdoors like that and it felt good to be free! I enjoyed making bannock (bread) under the guidance of the tutor and I just had the time of my life. Thank You." - F. Bond

"[Tutor] was very interesting and covered the vast range of topics in a very short amount of time, finding the right balance between making it interesting to the older ones but easy to understand for the younger ones. Overall, the course was fun, interesting and flexible, and I'm quite certain that everyone wants to go back again. The course was set in a remote area of the woods, far enough away from civilisation yet not too far. The camp was full of trees and bracken, and there was even a roe deer which came into the camp during the night. In particular I liked the feeling of independence - we were away from civilisation, not exactly living from the land but not eating burgers every day. Gathering our own water and purifiying it, as well as looking at the kinds of foods which could be eaten, and sleeping (if you wanted to) in a hand made shelter, all led to a great experience. The course was packed full of information, and was exciting and interesting. It covered the foundation of bushcraft and I will certainly go back again!" - C. Bellchambers

"I thought the course was really cool! I loved it and will come again" - I. Bain

"I think this course was a very worthwhile thing to do and it is great for young people to learn the skills involved in survival" - E. Buchhierl
