food
This is a great introduction to bushcraft on the West Coast of Scotland.
This course looks at the issues of fire - water - shelter and food in
the local context. You will learn the fundamental bushcraft skills of
firelighting (including fire by friction and sparks), water assessment
and purification, tree and plant uses and shelter. The emphasis is on
guidance and you are always encouraged to have a go and think things
through for yourselves.

Learning outcomes: At the end of the course you should:
- know how to improvise a shelter in adverse conditions, underpinned
by general shelter principles such as clothing system, bivvy bags,
and your behaviour
- learn to identify some common trees, plants and how they are used
as bushcraft resources
- learn about wild food
- understand how to find and assess suitable water sources and means
of purification
- understand the basic principles of responsible firelighting and
fire wood selection
- have succeeded in lighting a fire with sparks and/or bow drill
