On 17th March we suspended upcoming courses (see previous update), however following the UK and Scottish Governments' Announcements of a UK-wide lockdown, we are suspending all courses until further notice.

We will resume our course schedule as soon as possible and will be adding additional dates for 2021 to give you more options to reschedule.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience at this time, and wish you all good health.

The validity period of all our gift vouchers will be automatically extended by six months and we'll make further extensions if necessary.

Meanwhile, Leon has written a new blog post about the health benefits of breathing techniques here. Hope you find it interesting and useful. Don't forget you can connect with us on Instagram and Facebook too.

Stay safe and keep in touch. We look forward to seeing you in the woods again when the situation allows.

Very best wishes from Leon and Alison

"What are the 4 major things you need to survive outdoors?" I asked my survival students.

I was thinking of the classic pillars of survival -  fire, water, shelter, food, however one young lad piped up  “oxygen", causing some hilarity! It was kind of a joke, after all everyone knows we need oxygen to live and getting it is normally an automatic process, right?

However, over the years I have come to think of this as a more interesting answer. Perhaps it's even more topical right now as the current COVID-19 pandemic has such serious effects on the respiratory system. Also relevant to the challenges of the day is the effect of breathing on our immune system and stress levels.

I first became interested in breathing techniques about 3 years ago when I heard about the Wim Hof Method (WHM). Hof, an eccentric Dutchman with a string of physical World Records to his name, devised a method that combines breathing exercises, yoga, and cold exposure.  The aim of his method...

Dear all,

In light of yesterday’s announcement from the UK Government (16/3/20) we have taken the decision to reschedule all our public courses that were planned to take place up until 5 May 2020. We will be constantly reviewing the situation and will post updates on the website as things develop https://www.wildwoodbushcraft.com/coronavirus-policy

You can always contact us on 01687 470415 if you have any queries.

Although this is a challenge for us as a small family business, we want to do the responsible thing, for the safety of our customers and the wider community, and hope you will support us in this by agreeing to reschedule to a future date. We will be listing even more dates shortly, for the latter half of the year, and many of our existing dates still have places available. There will also be the option to convert your booking to a voucher with an 18 month validity that can be used towards any of our future courses.

Wishing you, your family and friends good health in this...

Fire skills, plants and trees, campfire cooking, wildlife tracks and signs (including an otter sighting) and much more! We're looking forward to seeing you if you have booked on next weekend's Coastal Foraging Days - still four spaces available for the Sunday 15th March - so if you would like to join get in touch quick! Here's the link where you can get all the details and book: https://www.wildwoodbushcraft.com/coastal-foraging-day-course
